Joint Statement on the Low-Carbon Fuels certification draft Delegated Act

Low-carbon fuels (LCFs) will play a crucial role, especially for the decarbonisation of hard-to-abate industries, as such this DA will have a great importance in providing the certainty required for investments.

Low-carbon ammonia, from electrolysis with low-carbon electricity or from the use of CCS/U technologies, is a promising alternative energy carrier, decarbonised shipping fuel and can be used to decarbonise fertiliser production. It is important to underline that keeping production of low-carbon ammonia in Europe is a driver of a decarbonised food value chain and can accelerate emission reduction of both the European industrial and maritime shipping sectors.

That's why Ammonia Europe and 16 other associations have signed a joint letter outlining our priorities for a low-carbon accounting methodology that will help the EU to achieve its net-zero ambitions.
